Charles J. Riggs

	Mr. Charles J. "Jerry" Riggs, 59, of Nebo, Ky., died at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 5, 2001 in the St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, Tenn. of heart failure.
	Born in Hopkins County, Ky. on July 16, 1942, he was the son of the late Claudie Ashby and Francis "Sissy" Riggs Cox.
	 Mr. Riggs was a coal miner for the Amax Coal Co. and a member of the UMWA.  He was a member of the Madisonville Praise Temple.  He entered the U.S. Army in 1964 and was stationed in Hawaii.  He was a radio operator with the Lightning Brigade of the 25th Infantry Division in Vietnam and later was with the 2nd Battalion of the 27th Infantry Division.
	He is survived by his wife, Glenna Riggs of Nebo, Ky.; two daughters, Cindy Riggs VanCleve of Manitou, Ky. and Stacey Riggs Moore of O'Fallon, Mo.; three sons, Tony Riggs of Waynesboro, Tenn., David Riggs of New York and Cameron Riggs of Nebo; his step-father, Herbert Cox of Lewisport, Ky.; two step-children, Danny Cooper II of Mortons Gap, Ky. and Carolyn Louise Huddleston of Earlington, Ky.; one sister, Darlene Finley of Whitesville, Ky.; three brothers, Donnie Cox of Lewisport, Hubert Cox Jr. of Hanson and Ricky Cox of Owensboro, Ky.; three sons-in-law; nine grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren.
	Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 8 at the Praise Temple with Rev. Richard Sisk officiating.  Burial followed in the Onton Cemetery.
	Friends called on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
